Looking for something to do?

12:31am Monday, July 26, 2010
Due to the amount of people complaining about POL taking too long, I have a list of positions available within the Staff ranks. These positions are as follows:

POL Spriting Team
- NPC Minisprite Creation (POL Template provided, character assignments are in a priority list) Aiding in the completion of this task gets you first-ins on the Player Minisprite Styles/Clothes/Accessories' Development process.
- NPC Battle Sprite Creation (DPPt/HgSs quality 80px by 80px size sprites) Aiding in the completion of this task gets you first-ins on the Player Battle Sprite Styles/Clothes/Accessories' Development process.
- Pokémon Minisprite Creation (Adapt HgSs minisprites using a pre-organized guideline to POL scale and quality.)
- Pokémon Battlesprite Creation (DPPt/HgSs quality two-frame 80px by 80px size sprite sheets. Limited tasks currently open. Position includes sprite adaptations such as Pinkan stylings, and rare Event sprites.)
- Tile Development (Design area tiles for use in POL maps) Aiding in the completion of this task opens up for opportunities in Map Development tasks.
- Map Development (Design area maps from scratch based on assigned sample references and resources. Not related to the POL Mapper Team position.)

POL Graphics Team
- NPC Character Animator (Develop high-resolution artwork in the Sugimori style for important NPC dialogues. Requires Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Flash, and Adobe Photoshop.)
- Sequence Animator (Join in with the Animation crew to help in the creation of anime-grade sequence animations for use in events. Requires Adobe Flash.)
- Web Graphic Development (Create Raster and Vector graphics for future use in POL's web designs. Requires Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe Flash.)

POL Mapping Team
- Area Mapping (Recreate maps using the POL Mapeditor and provided outlines to make them usable in-game. Also identify and report missing tiles to Tile Development team.)

POL Databasing & Wiki Team
- TCG Data Compilation (Gather and compile data on the Pokémon Trading Card Game for use in POL on the POLwiki)

If you are willing to apply for any of these positions, please do not hesitate to PM Platinum. If you have any questions, you can also contact Joe Schmo or Damo. You may also find us on Skype.

Luke

8:55pm Sunday, June 06, 2010
So, I'm not sure how many people here on the forums knew or spoke to Luke, his username was "nobodyreally" and he was our amazing game server programmer, as well as organizing the wiki, administrating and developing the website, and organizing the databases. He was one of the greatest contributors to the progress of POL, and one of the greatest minds (probably the greatest) behind it's overall technical design and the way the game functions on a technical level.

About a year into the development of POL, Luke was diagnosed with leukemia and became extremely sick. He still contributed as much to the project as he could, and much more than anybody could have expected or asked of him.

On the 5th of June at around 4am, Luke passed away in his sleep.

I'm posting this so that the POL community can talk about him and express their feelings, and so that anybody that didn't know Luke can discover how amazing he was and how important he was to the project.

A Few Forum Changes.

8:55pm Sunday, February 21, 2010
The old 'Arts & Graphics' section has been renamed to 'The Arts'.
It now contains sub forums such as 'Music' and 'Movies, TV and Videos'.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

There are two new related forum BBCodes, these are called [tag] and [goto].

Here is an example of their usage:
Code:
[goto=sometext123]Jump to some text.[/goto]

[tag=sometext123]The text to jump to.[/tag]

This allows you to tag parts of a post for people to jump to by clicking [goto] links. This will also work between posts on the same page. Let me know if you find this useful or think it should be changed etc.

Community Relations

8:38pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009
Just a small update here, Joeschmo is now our official Community Relations leader. Not too much will change from this announcement as he has pretty much already been doing that job of his own free will, we just thought he deserved for it to be official now. Any new or old members with questions or concerns about the community or the game in general should now direct them towards him.

P.I.C.H.U - Event 1

Ok so we're going to host this year's big tournament event for POL. It will almost definitely be a Shoddybattle event, but if people want to enter and they can't use Shoddybattle we can work out other things. I'm posting this as an update early because I want to see how much interest there is for this. If you want to participate in this tournament just vote in the poll so I can get an idea of how many people we'd have.

Proposed prizes:
  • 1st Place: A second starter Pokémon of your choosing when the game is released, any non-legendary unevolved Pokémon.
  • 2nd Place: A full set of contest berries.

If you have any ideas for other prizes or replacement prizes please also post them here, as well as general tournament suggestions. Please also keep spam out of this thread.

Attention Teams

3:59pm Saturday, October 03, 2009
This is just an update to say that from now until the game release, teams wont be suspended for inactivity. Inactivity rules regarding teams will resume one week after the game is released.

EDIT: All teams already suspended will still have to follow the regular protocol if they want to be re-activated, but we wont delete the team thread until one week after the game release.
