Steam.

http://store.steampowered.com/about/

When they say the ultimate gaming platform, they don't even know the half of it. I think most of us know what Steam is, but for those who don't, it's essentially an all DLC program that allows you to purchase yourself video games and consequently download them through their service. Steam is a fantastic program, and has a large number of awesome games for sale; all of them cheap and well worth the 5 to 10 dollars you're putting in. If you don't already have it, it's a great gaming service and really user friendly.

10 dollars for Mass Effect 1? Hahaha, no thanks, I'll wait until it's 2.

FAKEQUOTE
Yes, that actually happens with some pretty good games. Not necessarily ME, but that's just an example.

Okay everyone talk about your latest steam purchases, go. I just bought FFXI for five dollars, ultimate collection came with all it's expansions and add on scenarios. Before that, I ended up buying Mass Effect 1&2 for a total of 30 dollars during the summer sale. Pretty sick so far, since they run on my laptop really well.

I generally dont bother with any PC based games as i know only games made in 1997-98 work on my laptop. Which is sad, really.

I've heard about it, but I've never used it before. I would use it if I had more money and if I played PC games more often xD

What games do you play, Asu? Oh, and what kinds of video games do they have? Just like, all of them? XD

I'm normally playing TF2 or Left 4 Dead 2, but I've been playing a lot of Mass Effect lately. They pretty much have every PC game you can think of; a lot of newer PC releases can be found on Steam, but some games like Starcraft 2 probably won't make an appearance since Blizzard wants to have their own download services.

You'd have to look at their games lists to see what they really have. Lots of little puzzle games, RPGs, action-adventure, etc.

it's been confirmed, and i think it's a shame they aren't going to sell through steam. starcraft II is going to sell well regardless, but i can't help but feel they are going to miss out on some sales, but it doesn't matter, everyone will be using steam to run starcraft II just to be able to communicate with friends. i run almost all my non-steam games through steam just for the convenience.

if you purchase a decent computer or laptop now, you should be able to play all the current gen. games just fine, my laptop is 6 - 7 months old and i am happy with it's performance. PC gaming is just made so easy these days, it's just dumb to play on a console.

The whole "No Blizzard games" thing could've been seen a mile away, really. I don't have a lot of games I play off of steam, but I usually have difficulty adding non-steam games for some reason. I'm usually unable to find the right program on the list. I only have like two games that aren't on Steam anyway, so it's not like it really matters.

Damo you could even buy a mac and have nearly half the games on Steam play on it. They released mac compatibility a few months ago, so now PC and Mac users can use Steam with ease.

My quad-core alienware aurora came with free steam as part of the giant-assed package. I got source SDK with portal, HL2 and some other games, which allows me to play Age of Chivalry (good mod of source SDK, try it, it's awesome and addictive.)

I wish my mic would work in CS:S on my mac.

They need to port L4D and Alien Swarm to Mac because my laptop can't run anything with out having FPS drops.
