Hmmm... Lack of posts here. Does anyone even like this line of games? I thought Emerald was better then Ruby and Sapphire. However, it's not my favourite. I never got into the Hoenn region to be honest. I saw the odd episode in the series and I was like "wth? did Ash time warp?" I was later proved right in Platinum... The pokemon got lamer in Hoenn, and about the same in terms of lameness with regards to D/P/P. Team Magma and Aqua were a giant bag of suck. Team Rocket, or no evil team at all! Idk. It would have been nice to see one team completely demolish the other. Then have the player destroy this super power. But meh. Your thoughts?

I thought GenIII was pretty good. I liked the changed from the Johto/Kanto to a brand new region.

A lot of people seem to dislike Gen 3, but for me, I had a really good time with it. I only played Emerald out of that set of games, and it was the first time I had touched a Pokemon game in a looooooong time. I was hooked, and eventually that's what led me here to POL. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the game that got me back into Pokemon. :3

I'm with Joe, Gen III is one of my favorites. There were so many cool things they added, like contests, secret bases, and the PC box overhaul (one of the best ideas ever). I also personally like the style of many of the pokemon (e.g. Salamence, Metagross, Sableye, Swampert, Blaziken, etc.) There were a couple things I disliked though, such as not having have a true "rival". May/Brendan were too friendly to be antagonists.

And of course, Gen III had Mudkipz. ._. XD

xD That was definitely the best part! xP

That wasn't much of a problem for me. I was fine with my "rival" not being very rival-y xD

Gotta agree with Cryypter on the secret base and contests thingy. Features like that got me into Sapphire. Plus I was okay with the Pokemon they had in the Hoenn Region even though some of the Pokemon I thought looked a little bland. Idk, maybe it was how it was colored and how Fr/Lg looked "vibrant" than Sph/Rby/Em. Majority of my time, I only collected colorful Pokemon. Odd huh. Anywho, I will always find Gen 2 as my favorite gen. Gen 1 as 2nd and a hard time deciding whether Gen 3 or 4 gets 3rd.

Oddly enough, I never really got into using secret bases and doing contests. I just kept putting off making a base, and then I finally forgot about it. As for contests, I started doing them but got bored with them and only trained my Pokemon for gym battles and the E4. All of that applies to Emerald, since I never played Ruby, Sapphire, or FrLg.

Well, I liked Gen 3 as a whole, but not as much as the first two or the fourth. I can't quite pin down why, as I didn't really dislike anything they added or changed, but it just doesn't have the same nostalgia effects as the other three for me. :/

On a related note, back when I was an angry young man, like, the year the games came out, I lost in a contest and for some reason got so mad that I headbutted my GBA. I ended up breaking it's screen (didn't crack it, but the screen just has a big black ick on the inside, like it ruptured or something), and I had to go to a doctor because I ended up nearly knocking myself unconscious. This might've actually been a good thing though, as I was then able to get a GBA SP later and that backlit screen was a savior since I'm an insomniac.

Really?? Well, I'm glad your okay. Idk, it seemed like the same thing over and over again... Got annoying after a while. Then when the 4th generation came out, the graphics were better, so it was kind of a change.

Lol, thanks. Well, the way I see the Generations...

Gen 1 were the originals, and were my first memories of Pokemon.

Gen 2 were the ones I anticipated the most and have the most nostalgia for.

Gen 3... Uh... Well, they were there.

Gen 4 had super spangly graphics.

So yeah, IMO, Gen 3, regardless of the features it added, just didn't really stick out to me. The upgraded graphics were neat at first, but playing them now, they just don't seem as appealing to me as the other generations. But that's just me nitpicking. I still enjoyed the games, and in all probably have more time logged on my Gen 3 games than any others.
